POSITION: Senior Care Assistant & Weekend Team Leader

RATE OF PAY: £9.20 to £10.00 Per Hour (shift/role dependent)

BENEFITS: Pension, Assisting with Managing an ‘Outstanding’ homely residential home

HOURS: Part/Full time (minimum average of 30 hr pw) to include a job share with Team Leader role every weekend and Senior Care role during week hours. Additional Team Leader role may be needed during week hours to assist with holiday cover. Our shift patterns are 8am-2pm, 2pm-8pm, 8pm - 8am

Covid 19: High standards of infection control in place for our closed community setting with only employed staff working. To aid safe recruitment remote interviewing and additional precautions will be required. Flexibility with shifts will be an advantage to support the team and admin shifts may be varied during this time of reduced staffing.

DESCRIPTION:

Based in Yate, Bristol, BS37 4AH, Firgrove House Residential Care Home is actively seeking an Experienced Senior Care Assistant with experience in leading a team and supporting the manager with care plans, assessments and staff support.

Set in a tranquil environment, Firgrove House has a unique and warm feel with 18 rooms split between the Main House and Coach House. The Care Home offers residential care, respite and day care (when possible again). With over 30 years’ of experience in providing high quality bespoke care, they have an excellent reputation and are now looking for a new Senior Care Assistant /Team Leader to join the management team to continue and enhance on this current success.

The Care Home has an excellent team of staff, who are dedicated to the quality care we provide and currently has an ‘Outstanding’ overall rating by CQC, recognised in being Caring, Responsive and Well Led. Firgrove House aim to maintain and further expand this to include Safe and Effective, but most importantly to keep the home happy and a vibrant place to work and live in.

JOB ROLE:

This role may suit a senior Carer /Team Leader who would prefer to benefit from a more exclusive smaller home, having more time to focus on ensuring high quality care.

Firgrove House is a family run home and has a family ethos and homely feel. There is plenty of support from the manager, owner as well as an office manager for all business/ administration/HR support

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Essential Qualifications:

Possess one of the following or equivalent: NVQ/QCF level 3 (H&SC), Management in Medications and experience or qualifications in Leadership and Management in Care would be an advantage. IT proficient in word, excel, outlook and publisher and familiar with basic office equipment and communications,

Essential Skills:

Caring and Enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills and genuine desire to achieve positive outcomes and motivate others to do the same. A good working knowledge of CQC inspections, standards, Kloes, Social Care Act, Safeguarding, Mental Capacity, Dols, Medications, Dementia care etc.

Experience in a similar role, supporting elderly clients including those with Dementia. A “hands on approach” to lead and motivate the staff team to work to the best of their ability and to assist with recruitment, induction and training of new staff members to the team.

To assist and support the leadership and management of staffing requirements, ensuring the home maintains staffing levels, planning staff rotas in advance, holiday requests and cover arranging, support and training of staff, supervisions, and professional development.

To undertake assessments and audits as required, ensuring compliance to standards; recording, reporting and resolving any areas in needs of action. IT proficient to complete reports, notifications and use of secure email systems.

To act as an ambassador for Firgrove House and actively maintain room occupancy and Day Care levels. To ensure the highest quality of care for clients within a warm, homely atmosphere showing a clear understanding of how to support clients in a way that promotes their dignity, independence, equality, diversity, and rights.

To ensure continued links with the local community when possible again by welcoming and supporting volunteers’ and other community groups, including finding new ways to integrate with the local community for client benefit and well-being. The ability to travel as needed to carry out client assessments if needed or external training sessions would be an advantage.
