Category Merchandising Supervisor

Position Summary: The Category Merchandising Supervisor will be responsible for implementing all aspects of pre-defined merchandising for dedicated categories, including sales and margin outcomes against budgeted goals. This role will review data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends, adding and deleting selection as needed to keep RealTruck relevant with consumers. This position will foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services. This role will also be responsible for creating a smooth user experience by ensuring that products are categorized correctly, enabling the customer to find the relevant product quickly; maximizing sale conversion. This role may also provide one-on-one peer review/quality control, training, coaching, and/or guidance on approved standardized merchandising principles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for growing sales, margins, product, and brand offerings and reducing return rates for assigned categories.
  • Ensure products in the assigned categories are displayed according to RealTruck brand and marketing standards.
  • Provide a smooth user experience by ensuring that products are categorized correctly, enabling the customer to find the relevant product quickly; maximizing sale conversion. Responsible for the accuracy of all aspects of the product, including set up, pricing, categorization, ranking, upsell / cross sell online.
  • Communicate new product launches.
  • Work closely with the distribution team to verify product availability and ensure accurate inventory is represented.
  • Carry out reviews across all websites, checking product information, categorization & placement is correct and set out in a logical way to the customer.
  • Review online behavior/performance reports for assigned category to ensure there are no landing errors on website.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors on negotiation of promotions, returns, pricing, competitive issues, product changes or description modifications.
  • Provide one-on-one peer review/quality control, training, coaching, and/or guidance on approved standardized merchandising principles for Category Merchandisers.
  • Delegate task work to team members and provide feedback on team performance.
  • Remain up to date with the market to fully understand trends, gaps and opportunities in order to optimize listings, increase traffic and improve conversion. Review competitor site merchandising, promotional execution and tactics, user experience, product representation and taxonomy.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to implement and identify promotional opportunities for seasonal ad campaigns.
  • Communicate web system errors to the development team.
  • Provide assistance to the customer service team on product knowledge.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years’ Merchandising or related experience and/or training and 3-5 years’ E-Comm Industry Experience required.
  • P&L category experience is required, including yearly category budgeting and growth plans.
  • Experience using analytics tools, such as google analytics, is preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and achieve deadlines.

  • Strong inter-personal skills with an ability to influence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact professionally within the corporate environment.
  • Ability to work independently; demonstrating resourcefulness and outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn how to navigate various software programs.

  • Cleaning/disinfecting of personal work area
  • Maintaining social/physical distancing requirements (six feet from others) whenever possible
  • In some circumstances submitting to company paid virus testing through approved medical provider
