Support Worker


Browns Community Services focuses on breaking trans generational cycles and transforming the lives and wellbeing of socially excluded, disadvantaged and vulnerable people and families (18+) with multiple disadvantage

Our Intensive Support Service is working in conjunction with Windsor & Maidenhead Borough Council to provide 24- hour support to clients living in Stage 2.

You will support service users in a resettlement unit and in other locations across the borough; providing specialist support to clients with multiple disadvantages with a variety of support needs including substance use, mental health difficulties, rough sleeping, criminal justice contact and self-care issues. The service aims to deliver a high-quality accommodation-based support service. During their stay, residents are supported by an intensive support worker to address their support needs and work towards independence.

We are looking for a passionate, committed, and insightful individual, with demonstrable experience of outreach, working with clients who have complex needs. You will also be dynamic with a solution-focused approach to helping vulnerable people make positive changes in their lives.

This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021.

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check.

· Undertaking key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Manager.

· Providing structured (and unstructured) face-to-face contact with service users.

· Maintaining a state of awareness of the wellbeing and welfare of service users.

· Building supportive, trusting relationships with clients, and creating a positive atmosphere.

· Supporting service users with skills needed to work towards independent living; supporting them to learn and develop life skills such as undertaking domestic tasks, budgeting, cooking, dealing with correspondence, making phone calls, completing paperwork etc.

· Supporting service users with attending external appointments, attending court, probation etc.

· Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community.

· Undertaking support work in partnership with external stakeholders to complement their interventions.

· Introducing clients to and support them to access appropriate services both within Browns Community Services and within existing provision elsewhere to unlock specific barriers to progression.

· Supporting service users to take the next steps in their progression journey and to sustain engagement with services.

· Completing initial assessments, creating, and updating action/support plans.

· Completing case notes, continuously assessing needs and potential risks, and recording service users’ progression using Outcome Stars tool model.

· Being aware of changing risk assessments and safeguarding concerns.

· Completing safeguarding and incident reporting forms and following company policies.

· Undertaking all administrative work and keeping accurate and comprehensive client records to professional standards.

· Adhering to Browns Community Services’ CIC Policies and Procedures.

· Engaging in learning and development activities to increase knowledge and skills relevant to the post.

· Attending team meeting, supervisions, and case reviews.

· Either previously have/had experience of administering it or be willing to undergo the training Naloxone

· Carrying out any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as and when these are reasonably assigned.


· Applicants must have a NVQ2 qualification in Health Care or equivalent qualification/experience

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience of supporting clients with multiple needs

· A full driving license and use of a car (with Business cover insurance) is essential for this role.

· Able to work outside normal working hours i.e. attendance at occasional evening and week-end events. Able to work over public holidays.

· To adhere to the Safer Recruitment & Selection Policy & Procedure.

· To report any safeguarding incidents or concerns immediately to your Designated Safeguarding Officer or Lead Designated Safeguarding Officer.

· To complete any Safeguarding Awareness training as required by Browns Community Services CIC

· If required for your post, undertake an enhanced DBS check, and maintain annual membership through the updating service.

· Adhere to all the policies and procedures of the organisation.

· Commit to Continual Professional Development and undertake any training and development deemed necessary to fulfil criteria of post.

· Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post.
