Senior Finance Officer - The Forum Centre

The Forum Centre is seeking to appoint a highly skilled, professional and team-orientated person to the exciting role of Finance Officer with additional responsibility for aspects of personnel and health & safety. You will be working closely with our Head Teacher, School Governing Body and School Leadership team

This is an exciting opportunity to join us at The Forum Centre. We are a GOOD (Ofsted July 2019) learning centre for pupils with a range of SEND. There are 64 children from 7-16 on roll.

In partnership with the Headteacher and Support Services Manager, you will advise on and implement actions for the day-to-day management of financial policy, including aspects of personnel and health and safety as required, that enable the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows the leadership team members to focus on teaching, learning, assessment, behaviour and pupil outcomes. As well as the top 3 bullet points, it is also essential that you have:

  • Recent, administrative experience in an education setting (or transferable

experience)

  • Expert working knowledge of effective, efficient administration management
  • Fluency in MS office and email applications (365).
  • Effective communication skills for the school community including school governors,

contractors, teaching staff, children and parents

  • Integrity, honesty, loyalty, and fairness
  • Strength of character, decisiveness and considerable flexibility
  • Commitment to best value, safeguarding assets and the school’s reputation
  • Success working as part of a close and committed team, with an eye on a range of factors

It is desirable that:

  • You have experience and/or knowledge of human resources
  • You are good at building good working relationships with our stakeholders
  • You have experience of working with SIMs, including running reports and other school

administrative systems


Hours of work can be flexible by negotiation - we care about your work/life balance. The successful candidate will be part of an office team of 4 people. Due to the office setup and team nature we are seeking to appoint a person with a cheerful outlook who will, at times, required to be 'a port of call' for parents, staff and visitors, both in person, over the phone and via email. You must possess excellent people skills, have the ability to multi task and remain calm under pressure.

We are looking for someone to start at the beginning of September 2020 or ASAP thereafter.

Purpose and impact of this post:

To manage the financial procedures and requirements for the school to ensure compliance with Dorset Council and Government.

To be responsible for effective management and development of administrative functions within the school with specific responsibility for Personnel and Health & Safety.

To provide a support service to the Headteacher/Senior Leadership Team, including word processing, correspondence, reports, agendas, minutes and policies.

To be responsible for advising the Governing Board/Management committee on constitutional matters, duties and powers and work alongside the Headteacher and Chair to prepare purposeful agendas and produce, collate and distribute agendas and minutes.
