An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Critical Care and Surgery Team at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust for a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist who has the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to take up this permanent position.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical and leadership skills, be able to communicate effectively and have the ability to prioritise and demonstrate their organisational and time management skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work both individually and as a member of a team within clinical areas that the team covers (Critical Care, Coronary Care and Cardiology, Surgery, Paediatric Respiratory).

The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the existing Clinical Lead and Team Lead to guide the team and actively participate in shaping future developments within the service as it continues to grow and lead advancements within the team.

Previous experience, Sufficient number of years, as a band 6 with acute respiratory patients is essential and experience as a band 6 within the Critical Care setting is also essential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver a high standard of evidence based care
  • Be able to carry out complex holistic assessments
  • Make prompt clinically reasoned decisions
  • Participate in the discharge planning process, facilitating the patient’s discharge to the most appropriate environment for their needs
  • Have sufficient number of years post graduate experience
  • Have evidence of post graduate training to Masters level
  • Have the ability to work flexibly and adaptably to changing working patterns as the teams work their 37.5 hours across a 7 day rota.
  • Have a working knowledge of a broad range of conditions with proven clinical skills in this specialist area
  • Have experience of quality issues and audit
  • Highly developed organisational and management skills with high levels of communication skills to coach, mediate, negotiate, present and train,
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, as well as demonstrating a forward looking and proactive approach, and working effectively within a team environment
  • Act as an educational resource providing expert advice and support in the management of more complex patients, as well as teach, supervise and appraise band 6 staff and students.
  • Develop new working practices and be abreast of new developments, techniques, treatments in relation to intensive care, surgery and cardiology.
