JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as the senior scientific expert in the behavioral sciences leading and directing studies of the behavioral aspects of public health issues and problems and developing strategies to address those issues. Applies a professional knowledge of the behavioral sciences and related social and health sciences in the control and prevention of disease or injury.

"As a Lead Behavioral Scientist, you will: Serve as Team Lead Develop policy and objectives, appraising programs, and initiating requirements for behavioral science studies Advise the planning, design implementation and analysis of projects Provide authoritative and professional expertise in dealing with the behavioral aspects of public health issues Lead scientist and program consultants in various aspects of the study or survey design process Lead the evaluation of public health program effectiveness by measuring and assessing the extent of behavioral change Collaborate on projects/studies and coordinates efforts, as appropriate, with other program staff, other CDC Centers, other federal agencies, state and local health agencies, and private and non-private organizations Perform other duties as assigned" ]

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Qualifications: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in leading, planning, developing, evaluating and implementing scientific and technical studies involving behavioral and social science aspects of public health.
