CTI Specialist

Processes certificates of terminal illness.


  • Processes Certificate of Terminal Illness within established guidelines.
  • Faxes / mails / calls MD offices as applicable to obtain supporting medical documentation. Follow up with MD offices as necessary to obtain required documentation.
  • Confesr with manager regarding irregularities in obtaining required medical documentation in a timely manner.
  • Confirms receipt of medical documentation from MD office.
  • Checks Suncoast for confirmation of verbal certification and HCN Medical Director approval.
  • Enters all information on Certificate of Terminal Illness form from information obtained from face sheet and / or Suncoast.
  • Scans documentation into the appropriate patient chart.
  • Ensures completion of CTI documentation process.
  • Enters new doctors into Suncoast from requests received from multiple departments.
  • Maintains log for tracking Certificates of Terminal Illness.
  • Directs completed certificates to Medical Directors for justification.
  • Forwards certificates to Orders Department when returned from Medical Director.
  • Demonstrates and promotes respect for patient’s rights.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with the Patient’s Bill of Rights and the Patient Self Determination Act.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Assists in making reasonable accommodations for special groups, i.e., hearing, visually, physically, and / or mentally impaired.
  • Incorporates HCN’s commitment to customer service and continuous quality improvement into daily work habits.
  • Acts in courteous and considerate manner in person and on the telephone.
  • Promotes positive co-worker relationships, team work and cooperation both within the department and across departmental lines.
  • Participates in performance improvement data collection and Continuous Quality Improvement projects, as assigned, and takes individual responsibility.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • One (1) year experience performing clerical tasks and customer service.
  • Basic secretarial skills- typing, filing, computer, phone.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor and communicate in a tone that is upbeat, clear, direct, natural, and under control.
  • Ability to make routing decisions based on agency policies and procedures.
